Cindy Ryan

Cindy Ryan is a textile artist who lives and works in Central Florida.  A native Floridian and a lifetime lover of the cypress wetlands, Cindy’s work with plant and animal fibers reflects her interest in low country ecosystems.  She finds inspiration in local terrain and the abandoned dwellings of those who came before her.

Cindy’s work has been featured in galleries across the U.S. including QArts Gallery (Quincy, MA), McLean Textile Museum (McLean, VA), Compere Collective (Brooklyn, NY) and the historic 1914 Schoolhouse Museum and the Bing Rooming House Museum (Hillsborough County, FL).

At the core of my art is a journey toward deep understanding of my surroundings. My work is both an interpretation of the whispers I follow through the cypress and an offer of gratitude for the indisputable connection I have discovered there.  Like these secret places, my work is best viewed without a glass barrier.
